Police Will Pass Investigation of Nichkhun′s Accident to Prosecutors This Week
2PM’s Nichkhun’s DUI accident case will be handed over to prosecutors later this week.

The Seoul Gangnam Police Agency revealed on August 7 it was winding down its investigation of the July 24 DUI accident involving Nichkhun and a motorcyclist.

According to the police’s findings, it will hand over its findings on August 9 to prosecutors and recommend prosecutors press charges without detainment over the incident.
According to the police, footage of the accident obtained from Nichkhun’s vehicle’s black box and security cameras nearby have revealed details of the accident that night, that were reconfirmed through the direct parties involved.

Though Nichkhun and the motorcyclist reached an agreement to settle the case on July 31, the criminal suit is ongoing and prosecutors will review the findings of the investigation and decide whether or not it will formally press charges on Nichkhun.

Nichkhun has, since the accident, formally apologized for the incident and has shared he will remain out of the spotlight for the time being.

2PM’s Nichkhun will be sent to the public prosecutor’s office without detention on August 9 for getting into a car accident while driving under the influence.
On August 7, the Kangnam Police Station reported that Nichkhun will be sent to the public prosecutor’s office without detention for hitting a motorcycle while driving under the influence on July 24.
A spokesperson for the Kangnam Police Station said, “Our investigation for this accident is almost over. We’ll complete all investigations and send all records to the public prosecutor’s office.”
On July 24, Nichkhun ran into a motorcycle, which was entering an intersection from his right, while driving under the influence.
From that accident, the motorcyclist got injured and sent to the Konkuk University Medical Center. At that time, Nichkhun’s BAC (blood alcohol concentration) was 0.056 percent and he got a license suspension.
The police found some clues from recorded videos of nearby CCTVs to figure out the situation when the accident occurred and reconfirmed with Nichkhun and the motorcyclist how the accident exactly occurred.
On July 31, Nichkhun and the motorcyclist reached an amicable agreement, and on august 2, he underwent an additional investigation with JYP’s attorney.
The motorcyclist couldn’t move, so the police visited him in hospital and completed the investigation. The written agreement was submitted to the police by the motorcyclist’s family.
A spokesperson for the police station said, “Nichkhun admitted he drove under the influence and regretted his wrongdoing.”
Since the accident occurred, Nichkhun has stayed at home, having time for self-restraint. The release of 2PM’s new Japanese album, which was scheduled for last month, has been postponed. He also couldn’t participate in the JYP Nation concert, which was held on August 4.
