2PM's Interview at Men's Uno Magz

Men’s Uno Magazing (HK)
Koreans really have a knack for creating idols. JYP Entertainment created two idol groups, 2AM and 2PM, each with their own distinctive style. For those who want the tame and sentimental, it’s 2AM. For those who love bad and beastly boys, it’s 2PM. Since this is the first time they held a concert in Hong Kong, we took the opportunity to interview them and also to identify the group that is known as the “beastly group”. It is also the first time they are having a photoshoot forr Hong Kong’s fashion magazine. There are many male idol groups in South Korea, but what is the secret behind 2PM’s success? Usually, most K-POP male idol groups choose to go for the cutesy, boyish and innocent princely image. However, 2PM has never ventured into that route and chose to be “bad boys” from the start. As the saying goes, “all women love bad boys”, 2PM has captured the hearts of women and even the gay population [referring to AKP’s article in Nov 8, 2009] with their muscular and toned bodies. Taecyeon’s abs, Nichkhun’s smile has captured the hearts of many all over Asia.

Looking forward to visiting Hong Kong again.
2PM’s first visit to Hong Kong, and as a translator and a nanny it’s like someone who takes care of them during their trip overseas, I have already mentally prepared myself to be swarmed by starry eyed fans. At the airport, fans who flew from South Korea chased us like Initial D [it’s an exaggerated metaphor to describe stalking]. After the concert, they went to Central Hong Kong to club with dozens of fans waiting at the door.

Even before the Hi Touch event, fans queued for hours and even filled all six floors of the mall, chanting “2PM, I LOVE YOU”, heating up the atmosphere. Throughout the four days of interaction with them, they possess tireless energy. They sang, danced and jumped for hours during the concert and after that, clubbed till 5AM in the morning and slept for 2-3 hours before taking their leave back to South Korea.

Nichkhun: “We were looking forward to visiting Hong Kong and were really excited. During our short visit, we managed to taste Hong Kong style milk tea, dimsum and other delicious food. However, the trip was really short and we were not able to wander around in Hong Kong more. We hope to come back to Hong Kong during our next holiday and feel the city with a relaxed and enjoyable mood.”

To challenge oneself.
To the group, it’s good to be busy because it keeps them occupied and they are grateful for that blessing. They put in their sweat and effort to their performances, but when they are not on stage, they are surprisingly mature [probably means to say that the writer is surprised that they have two different images on and off stage] and are not satisfied with just being idols and hope to venture into a different field.

Taecyeon: “Other than being able to sing and dance, we are also able to compose. Junsu has been working hard on being a composer and the members and I hope to be able to act in dramas and movies. Given the advantage of being young, we want to experiment with different areas and continue to challenge ourselves. Satisfaction comes from being able to overcome
difficulties.”
